When to go: July and August are the parks busiest months. September and early October, the weather is still good, there is less traffic and wildlife abounds. May and June can be ideal for wildlife watching, but can also bring cold weather with either snow or rain. Mid-December to mid-March is an absolutely stunning time to visit Yellowstone, while the whole park is covered in a blanket of snow and steam and ice take center stage. Most of the park is closed during November and April.
